Love, Lies & Legacy- chapter 3

CHAPTER 3

"Hey Miles," I said with a wave.

"You were great out there,” he said with a small smile.

"Thanks! I enjoyed it," I said enthusiastically.

"The kissing part with Jesse, was that part of the video?"

"Oh no! It was something Julez and me came up with for laughs but I thought it was fun to do it. So I decided to go for it."

"But you barely know this guy..." Miles said in frustration.

"Kissing is not a sin Miles and since when do you care who I make
out with?" I said with a hint of anger. How could Miles say that? He had no right to judge Jesse. All I sense with Miles is jealousy and arrogance. So I just walked off and left him there.

After the whole video shoot, everything went back to normal. I wasn't labeled Julez Everard's best friend, the one who wrote her next upcoming single, acted in her video as her alter ego or made out with her twin brother on set.

But one thing changed though, the way I looked at the world. I'm not afraid to speak out in front of crowds, make a point to say something when I’m not satisfied or say what I feel. It’s like being in front of cameras and performing in front of people gained my confidence. One person who noticed my change was Miles. We talk more often nowadays and I’m not as shy to go up to him and say hi.

I was at the library, returning the books that I borrowed. Our librarian Miss Capri was busy stamping books and looked really annoyed.

"Hey Miss Capri.... Nice dress, is it new?" I asked cheerfully.

"You know Miss Carlson, no matter how much you try to flatter me; it will never change the fact that I hate teenagers. Especially the spoiled ones in this god forsaken institution," she said coldly.

"Ok... here are the books that I borrowed and I hope you really have a nice day Miss Capri," I said while forcing a smile.

After that embarrassing encounter with our cranky librarian, I wondered threw the endless shelves of books to find something that would catch my eye. After hopelessly searching, I decide to go to my favorite spot in the library to find my favorites literature novels and poems.

"Thou being a goddess, I forswore not thee: My vow was earthly, thou a heavenly love," said a familiar voice. I know those words so well in my mind that every time I heard someone quote it, my heart will skip a beat. I turned around and was greeted with a smile.

"Shakespeare.... that was sweet Miles," I said returning his smile.

"You're welcome. I wanted to understand this girl better, so I decided to read literature. She is a complicated soul to decipher yet the most fascinating one yet."

"You're making me blush Miles," I said, hoping he would not notice the rush of blood to my cheeks.

"Sorry. I bet you are looking for this," he said while handing me a book. It was my favorite literature book, Lady of the Lake.

"How did you find this? Before that, what are you doing in the library? This is so not your place," I said while tucking a strand of hair behind my ears.

"This is my getaway, my sanctuary. A place away from Valerie's fast paced life," he said while leaning against the shelves.

"But you guys are so close...."

"We are but sometimes I like to slow down... embrace the moment and breathe the fresh air of teenage life. So Sienna, do you know any literature experts? Cause I know Shakespeare is a talented dude but there are some parts that I just don't get it. I use to know this girl but lately she's too busy being good friends with a rock star," he said with a sarcastic tone.

"Do you want to hang out with me Miles?" I said with a giggle.

"I've been waiting for that question for a long time. I read and you explain, sounds cool?" he said while holding out his hand.

"Totally...." I replied while taking his hand.

We both sat down on the cozy sofa at the most secluded part of the library. I made myself comfortable with Miles. I spent all evening listening to Miles whispering romantic words of Shakespeare to me.
