Love, Lies & Legacy- chapter 25

CHAPTER 25

Darius sped out of the city and into the countryside, going as fast as the car could handle. When we were a good distance away from the city, Darius made a turn into a small road. At the end of the road, was a wide-open field that overlooked the hills. He stopped the car and got out. He opened my door and let out a hand. I instantly took it and was embraced into a hug.

I leaned my forehead against his chest and started to cry again. Darius tighten his arms around me, his lips in my hair. I held his waist securely, not wanting to let go. I was too terrified to face anything, too scared to trust anyone but him.

All I could hear was the sound of the delicate wind and the steady heartbeat of Darius. He cradled me soothingly in his arms like I was his most precious possession.

Darius gently lifted my chin to meet his gaze. Even though the tears blurred my vision, I could still see Darius's immaculate visage and was grateful he was there for me. His eyes were full of worry with an unmistakable hint of rage but still calm in some way.

He softly wiped my tears and lightly traced his fingers down my jaw line. I surprisingly trembled by his velvety touch.

"Eu aici pentru tu," he whispered tenderly to me while lightly kissing my forehead. Even though his words were brief, it was enough to steady my heartbeat and it made my affections towards him grow. He does not know how powerful those words meant to me.

It suddenly became cold as the wind started to blow roughly. Yet the frosty feeling lasted only a short while. Being in Darius's arms radiated me with so much warmth. He light's up my wintry soul, protects me from the icy world and warms my frozen heart. Darius was my undying blazing passionate fire.

I leaned against the hood of the car as Darius stood in front of me, hands on my waist. It took me a couple of minutes to calm myself down and to stop crying. Darius was completely patient and did not say a word until I was ready.

"You were right, Jesse is not worthy of me. He is not the person I thought he was and all he cares about is himself," I said putting my arms around his neck. I waited for an 'I told you so' speech but got nothing.

"I am sorry you had to find that out in a cruel way," he said calmly.

"Lexy killed my mom, Darius," I said finally. The expression on Darius's face was full of glower. He then closed his eyes and exhaled. His cool breath caresses my face. Darius turned around and placed his hands on his head.

"Are you all right about this?" he asked, still not facing me.

"I don't want to believe it, Darius. Jesse knew about it too," I said almost in a whisper. He turned around to face me, looking really heartbreaking.

"I knew your mother so well. I loved it every time she came to visit. I am so sorry," he said sincerely. Darius knowing my mother was really surprising. I have learned to accept my mother's death and to not make it affect my life. But I could see clearly that Darius has not accepted it yet. I took two steps forward and held both his hands.

"Let it go," I said genuinely. He held my hands tighter as he looked deep into my eyes. I was a little worried to see a spark of rage in those mismatched eyes. But then he exhaled again and pulled me closer. Our foreheads touched and I placed my hands on the either side of his cheeks.

"Eu aici pentru tu," I said softly to him. I felt it was my turn to be there for him. He has always been my light, now it was my chance to be his. He smiled at my words and kissed me passionately. His kiss this time was more gentle and calming. I realized that exact moment, how much I love Darius Cuza.
