Love, Lies & Legacy- chapter 16

CHAPTER 16

"Hello, I'm Fabiola Rison. It is great to finally meet an actually member of the Masenfer family," the girl next to me said when we started to eat. Fabiola was a sweet looking girl with light reddish hair and was wearing a fabulous pink dress. I was so happy because she was the first new friend I made at the ball. She then introduced me to her strawberry blonde haired escort, Tad Chasting. Suddenly everyone was introducing themselves to me. It was kind of awkward but I enjoyed making new friends. But there were people who did not even look or talk to me. They felt like I was not supposed to be at the ball in the first place, I guess.

As I was happily talking and getting to know everyone there, I could not help feel a sense of anger towards Jesse. No wonder he was so distant lately and he always acted in a rather bizarre way around me. But for some reason, being near Darius calmed me down a bit. Plus I could not let my anger for Jesse ruin my night.

Next to me, Darius introduced me to some of his friends. He would look at me occasionally to see if I was doing all right with all of my new friends. Every time I caught him looking at me, he would casually look away. While waiting for dessert, Darius leaned towards me.

"Are you having fun?" he whispered. I could feel the smell of his cologne seep into my veins.

"Yes, I am. But later we need to talk. Alone," I said, emphasizing alone to him.

"I would love to be alone with you," he said with an alluring smile that showed off his dimples. Just then the waiters came with our dessert, crepe suzette topped with wild berry sorbet. I pretended not to notice Darius's last remark as I ate my dessert.

After dinner, all the girls scurried to their rooms to change into their after party outfits. Darius escorted me to my room. I was hoping to meet with one of the twins but both of them were nowhere in sight.

"Where will you be when I change?" I asked, standing by the door, a hand on the knob.

"Why? Do you want me to accompany you inside?" he said in a lascivious tone. Darius's sexy demeanor was really getting to me. Plus his accent drove me to the wall. So I decided to play along with his seductive game. I slowly placed my hands on his shoulders and brought him closer to me.

"That is so nice of you but I'll pass," I said saucily, my face inches from his. Then I instantly let go of him and closed the door. Inside my hairdresser started to work on my hair. She tied my hair up in a complicated but very sophisticated ponytail and curled it to perfection so my ponytail lusciously cascaded down my back.

Just then I got a text from Julez.

Be careful with Darius Cuza. He is more than you think he is. I don’t trust him. –Julez-

I replied back asking why would she make such an accusation. But I did not get any respond back. I started having second thoughts about Darius. I knew Julez longer and I completely trust her so I decided to be more careful when I was around Darius.

I stepped into my short Dolce & Gabbana dress. It was a shade of purple with a black-laced bodice and laced hemline. I then pinned the family crest in the hollow of my dress, right in between my cleavage. I took one last look, thanked my hairdresser and headed for the door.

Outside were some girls talking and giggling, waiting for their other girlfriends to appear. But there was no sign of Jesse or Julez.

"I have a feeling you are looking for Jesse and not me," said someone from behind. I turned around and was greeted with deep limpid eyes. The way Darius said it made me think that he’s not too fond of Jesse. He no longer wore his coat, his shirt was unbuttoned at the top and untucked, his sleeves rolled up and his hair was messy in an adorable way.

"You have a way of reading my mind at the most inappropriate time, you know," I said while crossing my arms. We walked together to the hall; pass the giggling girls who whispered with intent as we walked by.

To my surprise, the whole hall was transformed into an Arabian themed club. The tables were taken away replaced by rows of cabanas draped in Egyptian cotton curtains. At the far end of the hall was a bar shaped of a semicircle. Smack in the middle of the hall was the massive dance floor where everyone was dancing cathartically to the beat of Hilary Duff's new song remixed to pure sexiness.

"Dance with me," he said while pulling me to the dance floor. I hesitated for a moment but I promised myself I would have fun. Besides, what is the worst that could happen if I danced with Darius?

I felt the music seep into me, feeling my nerves working on overdrive. I threw my hands up and swayed to the addictive beat as Darius's body move closely to mine. The sound, the heat, the lights and the lust I felt when being close to Darius kept me moving. It kept me centered, away from the doubt, fear and wrath.

As I danced the life out of me, Darius placed both of his hands on my neck and upwards to my hair. My sophisticated ponytail was undone as his fingers were deep into my hair. My thick wavy mane fell lusciously over my bare shoulders.

Even though I was warned of the danger, I felt an overwhelming desire to grab Darius and kiss him selfishly. Temptation was going to overtake me any second. I immediately stopped dancing and walked to the nearest empty cabana and lay down on the silk covered bed. I kept telling myself to calm down and not let my feelings overtake me.

Seconds later, Darius’s figure appeared as he draw back the Egyptian curtains and laid down next to me. He placed his hands under his head and closed his eyes. I sat up and looked directly at him.

"We are alone. What did you want to talk about?" he said finally, eyes still closed.

"Was my first meeting with you at the café a coincident or was it planned out?" I asked, eyeing him suspiciously.

"It was a coincidence," he said. As many questions I want to ask to Darius, I just could not do it in my frustrated angry condition. I was furious at Jesse for ignoring me and infuriated at myself for not being centered when around a very seductive and possibly dangerous escort. So I walked off and went straight to the bar where I met Fabiola.

"Hey Sienna! Where is Darius?" she asked while taking a sip of her martini.

"I guess I must have lost him. Could I get a cosmopolitan?" I said to the waiter.

"Oh, I lost Tad too. Hey, are you ok? You look like you're going to kill somebody," she said concernedly.

"God! Boys are so stupid!" I said under my teeth.

"I never thought of Darius to be stupid," she said innocently.

"Not Darius. Darius is sex on legs. He is too bloody seductive to be stupid. I'm talking about fucking Jesse Everard," I said, swearing a little too fast.

"Whoa, you know Jesse?" she said with a shocked expression, like I once dated Jared Padalecki.

"I don't just know him, I slept with him," I said chugging down the whole glass of Cosmo. But before Fabiola could say another word, I took her arm and dragged her to the dance floor.

"Let's dance," I said instantly. I needed the music and movement to drown my anger before I actually do kill somebody. Fabiola did not protest, she happily danced with me. I let the hard thumping sound of the hip-hop beat kill my negative attitude and let me have fun. After some time, I could feel myself be normal again.

Fabiola and I danced and laughed like normal drunken high-spirited girls. We twirled and swayed our bodies like there was no tomorrow. The sensation of being free and happy was completely overwhelming. Nothing could stop me that time.
