Love, Lies & Legacy- chapter 14
CHAPTER 14
After the whole family reunion with Aunt Marguerite, finding out the truth about the Masenfer family, discovering that there is a hidden jewelry vault behind a painting of my great-great-grandfather and firmly making my decision to go to the Eternal ball, meeting back with Jesse and Julez was pretty hard. I felt so guilty for not telling them all of this but at the same time I was happy because I was going to the ball with Jesse, he just did not know about it yet.
"So how did it feel to reunite with your godmother and aunt on the same week? What's next? That Prince William is actually your cousin?" Julez said whiling typing furious into her laptop.
"Yeah, I wish…" I said with a giggle. Just then Jesse came barging into the room, shirtless.
"You know for a self-proclaimed gentleman, you have no manners when it comes to entering a room. For god's sake, next time, knock first and put some clothes on!" Julez said, annoyed for her invasion of privacy.
"Sorry. Back home I am so use to walking around the house wearing only undergarments," he said sarcastically. I laughed at his confession. He then wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my shoulder.
"You are not mad at me for not wearing a shirt right?" he said adorably with a smile.
"Of course not. The less clothes, the better," I said, mimicking his sarcasm. I could see Julez gagging in front of me.
"That's my girl. By the way, have you seen my navy jumper?"
"Oh, yesterday night I was feeling cold so I wore it. It's in my closet. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. You were sound asleep that time," I said apologetically.
"No apology needed sweetie. It’s only a small matter," he said while heading to our room.
"Hey, Jesse! Have you told Sienna about this weekend?" Julez shouted. Jesse appeared again, wearing the navy jumper. His faced was stoned when he heard what Julez had said.
"I thought you were going to tell her," he asked worriedly.
"No, you were suppose to tell her," Julez said back. Jesse looked at me for a brief second, his eyes with a hint of guilt.
"Sienna, this weekend Julez and I are attending an important ball. I would love to take you but it is a traditional ball and only people from certain families could attend. Could you handle being alone for a night?" he said rather too fast, like we did not want to say those word to me. But why is that? Is he guilty for not taking me to the ball when I am actually going to be there anyway?
"Actually I have plans of my own, courtesy of my godmother and aunt Marguerite. I will be fine," I said with a smile. I was scared and happy to go to the Eternal ball. The whole Masenfer family conspiracy was a lot to handle. Yet I believed I was going to be all right because Jesse will be escorting me and Julez would be there too.
Jesse’s bizarre and distant attitude has been going on for a while. I wish that I could help him, but he would not let me. It seems like day by day, I’m losing my Jesse. I was afraid I would lose him completely. Everyday I would say to myself that everything would go back to normal after the ball, when there will be no more secrets between us.
